Overview

with plenty of time for sight seeing, climbing Jebel Siroua (2500m), before descending through spectacular Iriri and Azazegzan cliffs and smal berber villages.

The passage is attributed to an unknown typesetter in the 15th century who is thought to have scrambled parts of Cicero's De Finibus Bonorum et Malorum for use in a type specimen book.

The first scenery we will see are small village dotted with fields of barley and Safran. The trail we are taking weaves through an incredible valley before we begin heading uphill onto the volcanic sides of the Siroua. This area is full of deep gorges and black rocky peaks before hopefully passing a number of Azibes and local shepherds with their grazing flock. We have a little break before heading over Iriri River. After our descent we reach our camp and get prepared for our first exciting night in a camp

Distance: Approximately 5 hours of trekking.
Day 3 : IRIRI - AZAZGEZANE

Begin your journey by traversing the scenic Iriri Valley, surrounded by terraced fields and traditional Berber villages. Ascend to the Azib Aziouane sheepfold, a high-altitude pasture offering panoramic views.

Distance: Approximately 4–5 hours of trekking. Elevation Loss: -500m
Day 4 : AZAZGEZANE - IFERD MAGOUS

The route takes you through traditional Berber villages, offering insights into local culture and lifestyles. As you ascend, enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Reach Iferd N'Magous, a high-altitude plateau at 2,600 meters, where you'll set up camp for the night.

Distance: Approximately 5–6 hours of trekking. Elevation Gain: +500m
Day 5 : IFERD MAGOUS- JEBEL SIROUA-TAGRAGRA

Leaving the high pastures of Iferd N'Magous, the trail gradually climbs through a wild volcanic landscape shaped by centuries of erosion. The terrain here is rugged and remote, where black basalt outcrops rise like frozen waves above the green alpine meadows. The area is occasionally dotted with azibs—seasonal stone huts used by Berber shepherds—giving glimpses into a timeless pastoral way of life. As you ascend toward the summit of Jebel Siroua, the scenery becomes increasingly dramatic. The trail winds through narrow ridges, scree slopes, and rocky switchbacks. The path is demanding but never technical. Near the summit, the landscape opens up to reveal panoramic views of the High Atlas to the north and the Anti-Atlas and desert plains to the south. At 3,305 meters, the peak is the highest point in the Anti-Atlas and a perfect place to pause, breathe in the silence, and absorb the vastness of southern Morocco. The descent from the summit leads you through a softer landscape, where volcanic ridges give way to undulating high-altitude plateaus. You arrive at Tagragra, a wide green basin encircled by craggy peaks and dotted with seasonal grazing herds. In spring, wildflowers carpet the meadows; in autumn, you may find saffron crocus fields, as this region is one of the few places in Morocco where saffron is cultivated. Tagragra is a tranquil place, with a water source and plenty of flat space for camping. It's an ideal location to rest after the summit day—quiet, remote, and immersed in the rhythms of mountain life. As night falls, the sky over Tagragra comes alive with stars, free from light pollution and perfectly clear.

Distance: Approximately 5–6 hours of trekking. Elevation Gain: +500m
Day 6 : TAGRAGRA - AZIB TIZGUI

As you leave behind the alpine quiet of the summit zone, the trek takes you through a patchwork of seasonal pasturelands and saffron-growing areas. The landscape shifts subtly: grass gives way to low shrubs, and rocky slopes become more pronounced. Occasionally, you’ll pass stone-built azibs (shepherd shelters), some occupied by families tending livestock in the warmer months. The route is punctuated by small encounters with Berber shepherds, whose flocks of sheep and goats dot the hillsides. Donkeys and mules carry supplies along faint, winding trails that disappear into the folds of the landscape. You may hear only the wind, the clink of mule bells, and the quiet rhythm of your own footsteps. Eventually, you arrive at Azib Tizgui, nestled at the foot of a broad volcanic ridge. This pastoral area is often used as a summer grazing camp, with primitive stone huts, fresh spring water (seasonal), and grazing fields for livestock. The area is surrounded by basalt cliffs and volcanic debris that mark the unique geological signature of the Siroua region. It’s a peaceful, authentic location, offering trekkers a quiet place to rest, reflect, and camp. Sunsets here are particularly dramatic, painting the volcanic cliffs in rich reds and purples, and at night, the sky glows with countless stars.

Distance: Approximately 3–4 hours of trekking. Elevation Gain: +300m
Day 7 : AZIB TIZGUI- AIT OUBYAL VALLEY-TISLITE GORGES

Starting from the peaceful high pasture of Azib Tizgui, the trail leads you gently downward through volcanic terrain dotted with ancient azibs—stone shelters used by Berber shepherds. The landscape here is rugged yet surprisingly green in patches, thanks to seasonal streams and the cultivation efforts of local communities. As you descend into the Aït Oubyal Valley, the surroundings become more hospitable and fertile. The valley is famed for its saffron cultivation, with fields of delicate purple crocus flowers blooming in autumn. This “red gold” crop has sustained Berber farmers here for centuries. Along the way, you’ll pass small villages where locals tend terraced fields and orchards, offering a window into their age-old agricultural traditions. The path winds through terraces and narrow farm tracks, sometimes crossing small irrigation canals and stone walls built to hold soil on the steep slopes. The air is fragrant with wild herbs and the occasional scent of saffron flowers during harvest season. Further on, the trail descends into the Tislite Gorges, a striking natural feature carved through volcanic rock. Towering basalt cliffs frame the narrow valley, where a seasonal stream meanders through lush vegetation—a striking contrast to the arid volcanic highlands above. The gorges are tranquil and remote, an ideal place to rest and camp under a blanket of stars. This section of the trek combines stunning geology, vibrant agricultural life, and the warm hospitality of Berber mountain communities. It’s a journey that balances the raw power of the Siroua volcanic landscape with the enduring resilience of human life adapted to it.

Distance: Approximately 5–6 hours of trekking. Elevation Gain: -400m
Day 8 : Day 8: TRANSFERT TO MARRAKECH.

The transfer from Siroua to Marrakech takes around 6 to 8 hours by 4x4 or minivan. The drive crosses scenic mountain passes like Tizi-n-Test, with views of Berber villages and saffron fields, before reaching Marrakech by late afternoon.
